Meg Ryan's character in In the Cut Meg Ryan, known for her comedies and dramas, had a 180-degree turn in her latest film, In the Cut. Unlike her typical role, Meg Ryan appeared in a nappy-covered body in the movie, causing some critics to question her choice of clothing. However, Ryan was quick to defend her performance, saying that defining her as a "sweetheart" was hasty. In the Cut is a 2003 psychological thriller film directed by Jane Campion. It stars Meg Ryan, Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Kevin Bacon. The screenplay is based on a 1995 novel by Susanna Moore
