Sync Your Life: Understanding Your Menstrual Cycle

Sync Your Life: Understanding Your Menstrual Cycle

Hey girls, let's talk about something that's always running in the background of our lives, often without us really noticing or giving it the credit it deserves: our menstrual cycle. For years, I just let mine happen to me, but honestly, once I started understanding its rhythm, it felt like I unlocked a secret superpower for managing my energy and my mood. You deserve to feel good all month long, and understanding your cycle is a huge part of that.

Phase 1: Follicular & Ovulatory Phases (Spring & Summer)

* This is typically days 1-14, from the first day of your period leading up to ovulation. Think of it as your inner spring and summer.

* Your estrogen levels are rising, and you'll likely feel more energetic, social, and creative. It's a great time for brainstorming, starting new projects, and making big plans.

* Physical energy tends to be higher too. I love scheduling my most intense workouts, like HIIT or long runs, during this time.

* Around ovulation (mid-cycle), you might feel an extra surge of confidence and charisma. It’s an ideal time for networking or important presentations.

Phase 2: Luteal & Menstrual Phases (Autumn & Winter)

* This phase runs from after ovulation until your next period starts, roughly days 15-28. This is your inner autumn and winter.

* Progesterone increases, which can make you feel more inward, reflective, and prone to nesting. It's a natural time to wind down.

* Your body might crave comfort and lower-intensity activities. Switching to yoga, walking, or gentle strength training feels so much better now.

* For me, this is when I focus on administrative tasks, organizing, and deep work that requires concentration rather than outward energy. And during your period, allow yourself extra rest and self-care. Your body is doing amazing work.
